BCMS Friday News 9.25.26

Dear BCMS Families,

We had another great week at BCMS, and this week’s theme was all about getting involved in our school community!

One of the best parts of middle school is discovering new interests, trying something different, and finding ways to connect with others. Whether it is joining a club, participating in a sport, attending a school event, or simply showing up to support classmates, getting involved helps students build connections and strengthens their sense of belonging at BCMS.

Our fall sports season was in full swing this week with our first round of soccer games and a track meet against Somerville. It was exciting to see our student-athletes back in action, representing BCMS and demonstrating Falcon PRIDE. We look forward to celebrating all of our fall athletes next Friday at our first pep rally of the school year!

We also highlighted the many opportunities available outside of athletics through our Digital Club Fair. BCMS offers a wide variety of clubs and activities, and we hope students took some time to explore the options and found something that sparked their interest. Clubs are a great opportunity to meet new people, develop new skills, and become a more active part of our school community.

That spirit of involvement continues tonight as our Student Council hosts a Welcome Back Event for our 6th grade students! We are excited to give our newest Falcons an opportunity to spend time together, have some fun, and continue building connections with their classmates as they settle into middle school.

I encourage families to talk with their students this weekend about how they might choose to get involved at BCMS this year. Middle school is a great time to try something new—you never know when a new activity might turn into a new passion, friendship, or talent!

The BCMS Student Council is excited to host the 6th Graders for a "Welcome to BCMS" evening full of fun on Friday, September 25th!  The event will run from 6:00 P.M. - 7:30 P.M., we hope to see you there!

Please remind your child to check the lost and found table next week. The table is located in the hallway just past the main entrance.

Friday Morning Management is a club for students who might have left their books at home, ran out of time the night before, cramming for an upcoming quiz or test,  didn’t have time to print something, or just need extra time to complete homework and/or assignments.  

Meetings will begin weekly on Friday Mornings @ 7:00 am.  The starting date will be Friday October 2, 2026  and the last session will be(tentatively) Friday February 5th 2027. We will meet weekly in Mrs. Jordan’s room 206.

If your child is interested, please complete, sign and return the linked Permission Slip

Calling all 8th grade families!!!!! It’s time to start uploading your students' baby pictures to Yearbook Snap!!! Please begin uploading a clear baby picture of your student!

Make sure the name of the file is your child’s full name, OR write your child’s name in the “Add a Note” section of Yearbook Snap after uploading the picture. In Yearbook Snap, there is a specific “8th grade Baby Photos” folder for you to add to.

Applications for the Somerset County Vocational-Technical Schools (SCVTS) for the class of 2027 are now available and can be accessed through the school's website. 

The deadline to submit applications is December 31, 2026, so be sure to mark your calendars and plan ahead. 

This is an exciting opportunity for students to explore career paths and hands-on learning experiences. We encourage all eligible students to consider applying.
