BCMS Friday News 9.11.26

Dear BCMS Families,

We have had a wonderful and smooth start to the school year! Throughout this week, our teachers have continued working with students to establish classroom and school routines while helping them navigate the transition into a new grade level. We have been very impressed with our students and the positive choices, respectful behavior, and enthusiasm they have demonstrated. It has been a strong start, and we are excited about the year ahead!

Today during Falcon Foundations, we focused on the idea that every student and staff member at BCMS brings something unique to our school community. Each person has their own talents, strengths, and skills, and when we bring all of those individual contributions together, they make BCMS stronger. As part of today’s activity, every student and staff member created a small tile featuring a strength or talent they bring to our school. Those individual tiles will come together to create a large BCMS mosaic. We can’t wait for families to see the finished product at Back-to-School Night!

BCMS will host our Back-to-School Night on Tuesday, September 15th starting at 6:30 pm.  This evening provides families an opportunity to meet the teachers and staff at BCMS, visit classrooms, and learn about the exciting year ahead. 

Families may start entering the building at 6:20 pm via the main entrance at the front of the building. Below you will find a full schedule for the evening for each grade level to help you plan your night. Students will also be provided with a grade-level specific worksheet to fill out to help guide you to the correct classrooms throughout the evening. 

At 8:00 we will have two different opportunities for parents. In the main gym, there will be a presentation by building administration and representatives from the PTO and BEF.  In the cafeteria, there will be a presentation for 8th grade parents to help you navigate the upcoming transition to high school. 

We look forward to seeing our parents and guardians on September 15th!

The BCMS Student Council is excited to host the 6th Graders for a "Welcome to BCMS" evening full of fun on Friday, September 25th! 

Permission Slips for the event were sent home in backpacks this week. Please return the bottom portion of this form and $10 in either cash (exact change please) or a check made payable to “BCMS.” Return to Ms. Holt in room 310 by Wednesday, September 23. 

We are also looking for parent chaperones to help on the night of the event! More details will be shared as the date gets closer, but please use the form linked here to share your interest and availability with us. Thank you!!

Applications for the Somerset County Vocational-Technical Schools (SCVTS) for the class of 2027 are now available and can be accessed through the school's website. 

The deadline to submit applications is December 31, 2026, so be sure to mark your calendars and plan ahead. 

This is an exciting opportunity for students to explore career paths and hands-on learning experiences. We encourage all eligible students to consider applying.

Friday Morning Management is a club for students who might have left their books at home, ran out of time the night before, cramming for an upcoming quiz or test,  didn’t have time to print something, or just need extra time to complete homework and/or assignments.  

Meetings will begin weekly on Friday Mornings @ 7:00 am.  The starting date will be Friday October 2, 2026  and the last session will be(tentatively) Friday February 5th 2027. We will meet weekly in Mrs. Jordan’s room 206.
